Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a significant initiative by the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of our country’s independence. This grand celebration is not just about marking a milestone in India’s history, but it’s also about acknowledging the glorious journey of its people, culture, and achievements.
A Journey of Evolution
The official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav began on 12th March 2021, initiating a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence. This journey will culminate on 15th August 2023, marking the completion of 75 years since India broke the chains of colonial rule.
Five Pillars of Celebration
The celebration revolves around five key themes :
Freedom Struggle: Paying tribute to the sacrifices made during our fight for independence.
Ideas@75: Encouraging innovative ideas for a progressive India.
Resolve@75: Strengthening our resolve to build an inclusive and prosperous nation.
Actions@75: Recognizing actions that have contributed to India’s growth and development.
Achievements@75: Celebrating our achievements as a nation over the past seven decades.
A People’s Movement
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is not just a government initiative; it’s a people’s movement. It aims to boost this movement through collaborative campaigns and outreach across India and the world. The campaigns are aligned with nine critical themes, including Women and Children, Tribal Empowerment, Water, Cultural Pride, Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), Health and Wellness, Inclusive Development, Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India), and Unity.
The Vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat
The Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey. It aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India). The Prime Minister has described Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as an elixir of energy of independence; elixir of inspirations of the warriors of freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges; and elixir of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance).
In conclusion, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is more than just a celebration; it’s a festival of awakening, a festival of fulfilling the dream of good governance, and a festival symbolizing global peace and development.
