How to Stop a Dog from Barking : Practical Tips

Curbing Excessive Dog Barking

How to Stop a Dog from Barking: Practical Tips

Barking is a natural behavior for dogs, serving purposes ranging from alerting owners of potential dangers to expressing excitement. However, excessive barking can become problematic.

Here are some practical tips to curb this behavior :

Identify the Cause: Understanding the reason for your dog's barking is the first step. Dogs bark for various reasons including territorial behavior, boredom, anxiety, attention-seeking, or responding to other dogs.

Training: Basic obedience training can be a foundation for resolving barking issues. Commands like "Quiet" or "Enough" can help control barking.

Divert Attention: If your dog starts barking, distract him with a toy or by asking him to perform a command. Over time, he may associate the distraction with the cue to stop barking.

Provide Physical and Mental Stimulation: Bored dogs often bark out of frustration. Regular walks, playtime, and puzzle toys can keep them engaged.

Avoid Reinforcing the Barking: If your dog barks to get attention, don't give in. Wait for a pause in barking to reward them.

Desensitize to Stimuli: If your dog barks at specific triggers (like other dogs or people passing by), you can gradually expose him to these stimuli in controlled conditions, rewarding calm behavior.

Consider Bark Collars or Devices: There are several tools available, such as ultrasonic devices or citronella-spraying collars, which can help curb excessive barking.

Consult a Professional: Sometimes, the underlying cause of barking may be anxiety or behavioral issues. In such cases, consult a dog trainer or behaviorist.

Example

This is Short story   : -
Let's consider Bella, a 2-year-old Labrador who barks every time the doorbell rings. Bella's owner realized this was a territorial response. To address this:

The owner would ring the doorbell and reward Bella with treats when she remained calm.
Bella was also taught the "Quiet" command. When the doorbell rang, Bella was given the command, and upon obeying, she was rewarded.
Gradually, through consistent training and positive reinforcement, Bella learned not to bark when the doorbell rang.

In conclusion, patience, consistency, and understanding the underlying causes of barking are key to addressing excessive barking in dogs. With the right approach, even the most vocal canines can learn to bark only when it's truly necessary.

Chemistry : The Central Science and Its Connection to Our Lives

Chemistry, often referred to as the central science, is the study of matter and the changes it undergoes. It is a field that is deeply intertwined with our daily lives, from the food we eat and the air we breathe, to the products we use and the environment we live in.

The Role of Chemistry in Society
Chemistry plays a crucial role in society. It is involved in the development of various products and technologies that enhance our quality of life. For instance, chemists work on creating new materials with improved properties, developing pharmaceutical drugs to treat diseases, and finding solutions to environmental issues.

Chemistry in Literature: ‘Lessons in Chemistry’
Interestingly, chemistry has also found its way into literature. A notable example is the novel ‘Lessons in Chemistry’ by Bonnie Garmus1. This book is not just about chemistry as a science but also uses it as a metaphor for change.

The novel tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, a research chemist in the 1960s, a time when female scientists were viewed with suspicion by their male colleagues1. Despite facing numerous challenges, including sexual assault and theft of her work1, Elizabeth remains steadfast in her pursuit of scientific knowledge.

After being fired from her research institute, Elizabeth becomes the star of a cooking show for housewives called 'Supper at Six’1. However, she uses this platform to initiate a quiet revolution, speaking directly to millions of housewives about their own capacity for change1.

Conclusion
Chemistry is not just a subject confined to laboratories and textbooks; it permeates every aspect of our lives. It’s fascinating how it can also serve as a powerful narrative device in literature, as seen in ‘Lessons in Chemistry’. This novel beautifully illustrates how chemistry can symbolize change and resilience, reflecting the struggles and triumphs of women in science during a challenging era.

Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal

Jet Airways and its founder Naresh Goyal

Jet Airways, once India’s largest private airline, has been mired in a long and complex insolvency process since it stopped flying in April 2019 due to financial troubles. The airline owes over ₹8,000 crore to its lenders, who have been trying to recover their dues through various legal avenues. However, the resolution plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in June 2021, which would see a consortium of Jalan-Kalrock take over the airline and inject $1.3 billion into it, has faced several hurdles and challenges.

One of the major obstacles is the arrest of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 1, 2021, in connection with a money laundering case involving a ₹538 crore bank fraud. The ED has alleged that Goyal and his wife Anita Goyal diverted funds from Jet Airways to their personal accounts and to companies and trusts in tax havens. The ED has also accused Goyal of loan evergreening, which means taking new loans to repay old ones, thereby inflating the debt of the airline.

Goyal, who started Jet Airways in 1993 and made it a successful brand in the domestic and international markets, has denied any wrongdoing and has challenged his arrest in the Bombay High Court. He has also sought bail on medical grounds, citing his age and health issues. However, the court has not granted him any relief so far and has remanded him to judicial custody till September 29.

The arrest of Goyal has cast a shadow over the revival of Jet Airways, as it may affect the transfer of ownership and assets to the Jalan-Kalrock consortium. The consortium has also not been able to meet its funds infusion target and has sought repeated extensions from the tribunals. Moreover, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has not renewed Jet Airways’ Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), which is required for operating flights. The AOC expired in May 2021 and the DGCA has said that it will consider renewing it only after the consortium fulfills certain conditions.

The creditors of Jet Airways have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Jalan-Kalrock resolution plan and have told the Supreme Court that it is not workable. They have called for the airline to be wound up and liquidated, as they fear that they will not be able to recover their dues otherwise. The Supreme Court has asked the consortium to respond to the allegations made by the creditors and has listed the next hearing in two weeks.

The fate of Jet Airways and its founder Naresh Goyal hangs in balance as they face multiple legal battles and uncertainties. The once-prominent airline is struggling to make a comeback in a competitive and dynamic aviation sector, while its founder is fighting to prove his innocence and secure his freedom.

Hot Yoga : An Intense Blend of Heat and Flexibility

Hot Yoga Benefits Guide

Hot Yoga : An Intense Blend of Heat and Flexibility

Hot yog , often associated with Bikram Yoga, has gained immense popularity over the past few years. But what is it about practicing yoga in a heated environment that attracts so many? Let's delve into the world of hot yoga, its benefits, and considerations to keep in mind.

What is Hot Yog  ?
Hot yoga refers to any yoga practice performed in a heated room. The temperature can range from 85 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, with a humidity level of around 40%. This kind of environment is believed to enhance flexibility, detoxification, and cardiovascular benefits.

The Benefits of Hot Yoga

Improved Flexibility: The heat warms up the body, making muscles more elastic and easier to stretch. This can lead to deeper stretches and an enhanced range of motion over time.

Detoxification: Sweating is a natural way the body eliminates toxins. The intense heat promotes sweating, which can help in flushing out impurities from the system.

Enhanced Cardiovascular Challenge: The heart works harder in heated conditions, potentially providing a stronger cardiovascular workout compared to regular yoga.

Stress Reduction: Just like traditional yoga, the hot variant also emphasizes relaxation, mindfulness, and deep breathing, which can reduce stress and promote mental well-being.

Weight Loss: While weight loss benefits are debated, the intense nature of the workout, combined with the heat, can lead to higher calorie burn.

Things to Consider

While hot yoga offers numerous benefits, there are some considerations to keep in mind :

Hydration: With increased sweating comes the risk of dehydration. It's essential to drink plenty of water before, during, and after the session.

Listen to Your Body: It's crucial to know your limits. If you feel dizzy, nauseated, or overly fatigued, it's essential to stop and rest.

Pre-existing Conditions: Those with heart conditions, pregnant women, or individuals sensitive to heat should consult a physician before trying hot yoga.

Equipment and Clothing: Wear lightweight, breathable attire. Also, bring along a good-quality yoga mat and a towel to manage sweat.

Conclusion
Hot yoga, with its blend of heat and traditional yoga postures, offers an invigorating workout that many swear by. While it provides a myriad of benefits, it's essential to approach the practice with knowledge and respect for one's body. If done right, hot yoga can be a transformative experience for both mind and body.
