India is making remarkable progress in developing and producing vaccines for various diseases, including anthrax and swine fever. This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Dr. Singh was addressing a virtual event organized by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to launch four new vaccines for anthrax, swine fever, brucellosis, and leptospirosis. He said that these vaccines are the result of the dedicated efforts of Indian scientists and researchers, who have been working tirelessly to find solutions to the health challenges faced by the country and the world.
He praised the ICMR for its role in spearheading the vaccine development and production in India, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that India has emerged as a global leader in vaccine manufacturing and supply, and has earned the respect and admiration of the international community.
He also highlighted the importance of these four new vaccines for the prevention and control of diseases that affect both humans and animals. He said that anthrax and swine fever are highly contagious and fatal diseases that can cause huge losses to livestock and agriculture. He said that these vaccines will help in protecting the health and well-being of millions of people and animals in India and abroad. He said that these vaccines will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the country, by enhancing food security, rural livelihoods, and public health.
He congratulated the ICMR and its partner institutions for their achievements in vaccine research and development. He said that these vaccines are a testimony to the scientific excellence and innovation of India. He expressed his confidence that India will continue to make breakthroughs in vaccine science and technology, and will play a key role in ensuring a healthy and prosperous future for humanity.
